Weather conditions: |
| Weather was cool and wet in 2005 compared with 2004, occasionally with strong wind. Sunny days in the beginning of surveys were followed on 27-30 June by windy and cold period with intermittent drizzle and temperatures ranging from +8ø-10øC at night and from +12-+17øC at daytime. The following 3 days were moderately cool and clear with weak winds, but then a period of adverse weather established on 4 July with strong northerly wind, drizzle and temperatures not exceeding +2ø-+4øC at night and +4ø-+8øC at daytime. Precipitation ceased and wind became weaker at the evening on 6 July. The next day was moderately cool (+10øC) with weak to moderate wind. After starting at night rain continued during the next day, although temperatures increased to +12ø-+15øC. Weather was changeable and windy on 9 July, while clear weather with day-time temperatures +15ø-+20øC prevailed on 10-14 July. Strong western wind on 15 July was followed by calm and moderately warm weather until the end of surveys on 17 July.

Breeding conditions:
|
The proportion of fox dens used was below average. Rough-legged Buzzards bred at average density, but behaviour of birds indicated lack of food, as they surveyed very large territories. Solitary records of Northern Harriers, Pallid Harriers and Short-eared Owls were made. White-tailed Sea Eagles were less common than in 2004. Numbers of geese, ducks and Willow Grouse were low. The proportion of non-breeding Red-breasted Geese in flocks increased considerably. Bewick's Swans were numerous, but most birds also occurred in flocks. Waders occurred in average numbers, and the most abundant species included Red-necked Phalarope, Wood Sandpiper, Temminck' Stint, as well as Common Snipe and Ruff in floodplain. Breeding conditions in 2005 were less favourable than in 2004 due to inferior weather and stronger predation. Human impact by reindeer herders and fishermans was also stronger in the upper reaches of the Yuribei River. Vegetation in the surveyed area was damaged considerably and locally destroyed after passage of domestic reindeers in 2005.

Summary
of fauna studies: |
Bird counts have been carried out on 4 permanent plots in the upper reaches of the Yuribei River (including Levy Yuribei). Faunistic observations were conducted in course of the whole expedition from Erkuta settlement to Yarroto Lake. Information is detailed in the report on scientific substantiation of establishment of the nature park "Yuribei".
